OUR WHY

We are an inclusive organisation working closely with our allies to disrupt homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and interphobia in boxing and sport in general. We believe in the modern world it is also about championing confidence, health and wellness, love, community and friendship. 

Our aim is to promote boxing to and amongst the LGBTQIA+ and wider community, providing opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people to compete in the sport of boxing in a safe and friendly environment. Safety is our NUMBER ONE priority.
 
We have received endorsements from the World Boxing Council, International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association.

HOMOPHOBIA IN SPORT

A study conducted by Out on the Fields showing 80% of people in Australia  have either witnessed or experienced homophobia in sport, with 75% believing that an openly gay person would not be safe as a spectator at a sporting event.

SUICIDE RATES IN LGBTQI+ POPULATION

Data from the National LGBTI Health Alliance shows that  young LGBTQI+ people  are five times more likely to attempt suicide compared to the general population, with transgender people aged 18 and over nearly eleven times more likely.

STIGMA & DISCRIMINATION IN SPORT

"Researchers from Australia’s Monash University conducted surveys and interviews with female athletes from a variety of sports in Australia and rugby union players in the UK and Canada. Nearly all (91%) of the rugby players said most people assume they are lesbians for playing the sport."

SAFETY AS A PRIMARY CONCERN

"In a sports system characterised by a binary gender order and gender stereotypes, LGBTI* people can feel insecure and sometimes discriminated against. This often prevents them from actively participating in sport."

WE LOVE BOXING

Everyone in this organisation and who are a partner, supporter, ally or advocate is a fan boxing. We see the benefits of an all-round workout, the thrill of being in a ring and sparring, getting coached by highly talented and super committed coaches and trainers and being a part of a wider sporting community. We want to make this all-inclusive & safe for everyone to participate and support.
